{"id":1101,"date":"2012-01-05T21:38:01","date_gmt":"2012-01-06T01:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.parksleepfly.com\/?p=1101"},"modified":"2025-03-12T12:09:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T16:09:49","slug":"whats-on-your-travel-bucket-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parksleepfly.com\/blog\/whats-on-your-travel-bucket-list\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s On Your Top Travel Destination Bucket List?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know about you, but a brand spankin&#8217; new year always finds me refreshed and ready for new adventures.\u00a0 With that, my thoughts do go toward where I might wish to travel.\u00a0 I have a few places on my &#8220;bucket list.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>About three years ago, I went on a business trip to India.\u00a0 I must admit, it was not MY idea to go.\u00a0 However, to be picked up and completely dropped off in a new country, culture, and with only one other person with you there&#8217;s not much you can do but hang on for dear life.<\/p>\n<p>Our hosts were quite gracious.\u00a0 They took us to places that normal American tourists would not have access to.\u00a0 We went to a Hindi engagement, which would rival most weddings I have been to in the past.\u00a0 Several monuments around the city, idols, and to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Karla Caves\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=18.7833333333,73.4705555556&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=18.7833333333,73.4705555556%20%28Karla%20Caves%29&amp;t=h\" rel=\"geolocation\">Karla Caves<\/a>, which alone was almost worth the trip to India.\u00a0 I had only experienced places like Karla Caves through history books, but to actually see, touch and experience something that took hundreds of years to complete was truly humbling.\u00a0 Along with the Indian way of life, the experience certainly was once of a life time.<\/p>\n<p>This experience also made me realize that I wanted to travel more and have other world-traveler experiences.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve started a &#8220;bucket list&#8221; and currently am researching new adventures.\u00a0 I did a search on 2012 top travel destinations to see what to put on my bucket list.\u00a0 I received quite a few ideas from Frommer&#8217;s.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frommers.com\/slideshow\/?p=1&amp;axn=pause&amp;group=715&amp;layout=win\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(Click for slideshow).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With destinations from Japan, to China, and Spain, to England to the United States, there&#8217;s is a destination for everyone.\u00a0 I was excited to see that <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Moab, Utah\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.5725,-109.549722222&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=38.5725,-109.549722222%20%28Moab%2C%20Utah%29&amp;t=h\" rel=\"geolocation\">Moab, Utah <\/a>was among the top destinations.\u00a0 The Delicate Arch near Moab can make you feel both empowered and humbled in the same moment.\u00a0 This location alone is worth a second or third bucket list trip.\u00a0 Along with <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Monument Valley\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Monument_Valley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Monument Valley<\/a> and other natural formations, including the Grand Canyon, the Southwest is a &#8220;must see&#8221; for anyone living in the United States.\u00a0 Do yourself a favor and get a local guide to take you through the formations for an extra special visit that you won&#8217;t forget.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve taken several trips to the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Great Smoky Mountains\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Great_Smoky_Mountains\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Smokey Mountains<\/a> in Tennessee and North Carolina, and there&#8217;s always a new adventure awaiting no matter how many times you may travel there.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a relaxed feel of the residents, great food, great music and wonderful scenery.\u00a0 Okay, I have been to all the locations listed in the United States, and would definitely keep them on the bucket list again for various reasons.<\/p>\n<p>I would love to go spend time in Nova Scotia and visit the Bay of Fundy.\u00a0 Who doesn&#8217;t love a picturesque lighthouse?
